RoRo is the default for single units: the car is driven on and off, handling is minimal and the per-unit rate is usually lower. The trade-off is schedule — not every port has frequent RoRo calls.
Containers cost more per unit for a single car but become competitive at two to four units per 40HQ. They also protect against weather and handling damage, and can be sealed at loading.
For high-value or modified vehicles, container shipping is usually the safer choice. For volume dealers moving standard sedans into a well-served RoRo port, RoRo keeps the landed cost down.
